GRANT APPLICATION PROCEDURE

Individuals who apply for a Grant must be under the age of 25 and fully resident in the area of the Lakes Parish, which is an area encompassing Ambleside, Grasmere and Langdale and as far south as the river at Troutbeck Bridge. The age and residential requirements also apply to Group Applications. Please read the page 'Who benefits and qualifies' for full details.
If you wish to submit further information relevant to your application please do so in a letter attached to FORM G.
Completing FORM G
ALL APPLICANTS complete parts 1, 2, 3 and 5, together with the relevant section of part 4 - 4(i) or 4(ii) or 4(iii)
Completing FORM Rl
We require detailed information on the items for which you are seeking Grant Aid. The Foundation will only consider the cost of ESSENTIAL books, items, equipment, trips and courses.
Please note that any item which you list for which you hope receive Grant Aid MUST BE ACCOMPANIED BY A RECEIPT FOR THAT ITEM. Only in special circumstances will the Trustees make Grants for items not accompanied by receipts. In such circumstances you should enclose a letter explaining the problem.
Completing FORM R2
You are required to obtain the signature of your Course Tutor, or Employer if you are an apprentice, as confirmation of your registration and attendance on the course and of the need for the items listed by you.
If you are going to College you will not be able to complete FORMS Rl and R2 until you are in attendance on your course.
1st YEAR COMPUTER GRANT
This is available ONLY for the 1st year of a University or equivalent course. The grant is for the purchase of a computer of a standard required for your course. A written receipt, not a till receipt, will be required showing date, amount and model.
The grant will be made automatically to the appropriate applicants. If you do not wish to take advantage of this computer grant OR if you fail to produce a receipt your Grant for next year will be reduced by £400.
Print off forms G, Rl and R2, complete them and then send BY POST with receipts to the Clerk to the Governors at:- The Kelsick Centre, St Mary's Lane, Ambleside, Cumbria LA22 9DG.
Grants are considered in February, May, August and November. Deadline dates for applications at these meetings are 31 January, 30 April, 31 July, 31 October respectively
